New fund honours Darrel Mack's legacy

Proceeds will support food security initiatives for young people and single parents in the NWT

The Yellowknife Community Foundation has launched what it's calling the Darrel Mack Memorial Fund, created in memory of Darrel Mack, a beloved community member who passed away earlier this year after battling cancer.

The fund will support food security initiatives for young people and single parents in the NWT, according to a news release from the foundation.

Mack, described as charismatic, generous and deeply rooted in community values, was diagnosed with stage four esophageal cancer in 2021. He co-wrote the lyrics to his wife Leela GildaySA国际影视传媒檚 song North Star Calling, including the line SA国际影视传媒淪earching for light through darkest days,SA国际影视传媒 which became a guiding message during his illness, the foundation notes.

Donations to the fund will support ongoing community needs and help carry MackSA国际影视传媒檚 legacy forward, the foundation added.
