A weight has been lifted off Team Nunavut after the men's indoor volleyball team won the territory's first match of the Canada Summer Games on Wednesday.
Nunavut triumphed over the Northwest Territories in four sets by scores of 15-25, 25-15, 25-14 and 27-25.
It also marked Nunavut's first victory of a single volleyball set at the games.
Other matches on Wednesday weren't as fruitful for the territory's athletes.
Against Nova Scotia, the men's team fell in three sets: 25-16, 25-23 and 25-12.
With a record of one win and two losses, the Nunavut men's volleyball faces off against Yukon on Thursday.
The women's indoor volleyball squad lost against PEI: 25-20, 25-17 and 25-13, after falling in a close match against the Northwest Territories: 25-23, 27-25 and 25-16 earlier in the day.
Coming off the 0-3, record, the Nunavut women's indoor volleyball squad will also play Yukon on Thursday.
Men's and women's wrestling teams both dropped their respective first bouts.
On the women's side, Alberta prevailed 49-4 against Nunavut while Ontario racked up a 53-0 shutout of the territory.
The Nunavut men's wrestling team fell 49-0 against Alberta and also lost to B.C.
Wrestling goes into high gear Thursday, with the women's team scheduled to go up against New Brunswick while the men's team takes on the Northwest Territories, hosts Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as Manitoba.
