A Yellowknife man is facing charges following a stand-off at Fort Gary apartments on Gitzel street last week.
say they have laid five charges against a lone suspect following a July 11 standoff where they responded to complaints of a man pointing a firearm at the temporary day shelter on 49 St.
After police were called, the suspect relocated to Fort Gary apartments on Gitzel St. dispacted the G Division Police Dog service, the Emergency Response Team and the Crisis Negotiation Team to the area to end the stand-off.
Police say they took the man into custody safely shortly after 5 p.m. SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½” and they seized an imitation firearm.
Jordan Peter, 35, is charged with pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon, resisting and/or obstructing a peace officer, uttering threats against a person and possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes. He remains in custody and will appear in court at a date to be determined.
