It was a case of happy day for Kevin Iksiktaaryuk when his family's name was drawn by the Baker Lake Fishing Derby committee for a new 900 Ace Expedition snow machine during Baker's fishing derby earlier this month.
The Baker fishing derby ran from May 16 to May 19.

Cribbage tournament
Baker Lake/Rankin Inlet
The Pulaarvik Kablu Friendship Centre will be hosting a cribbage tournament this evening, May 28, in both Rankin Inlet and Baker Lake.
In Rankin, the tourney will be held at the Singiituq Complex, while in Baker Lake it will be held at the community centre..
Both tournaments are free to enter. Registration is at 6 p.m. with games starting at 6;15 p.m.
Top prizes at the events are $200, with second place being worth $150 and third place worth $125. All prizes will be given out in gift cards to a local store in both communities.

Baseball camp
Rankin Inlet
The Winnipeg Goldeyes will be holding a baseball camp in Rankin Inlet on June 13.
All youth wanting to take part in the camp are asked to contact Rankin recreation co-ordinator A.J. Curley. Equipment will be provided, but anyone who takes part must pre-register first.
