Colville Lake residents will vote this month on whether to restrict how much alcohol people can bring into or possess within the community.

According to the territorial government, the Bedzhi Ahda First Nation Council passed a resolution requesting the vote, which will be conducted under the authority of the NWT Liquor Act. Finance Minister Caroline Wawzonek has appointed a returning officer to oversee the vote.

Advance polling is set for July 11, with the main vote taking place July 18, also according to the GNWT

Under the act, NWT communities can decide whether to ban, restrict, or allow unrestricted alcohol within their boundaries.
