"I understand many residents want to see action, and I share that sense of urgency. Education Minister Caitlin Cleveland is responding publicly to concerns about governance, finances and workplace culture in the Dehcho education system. She announced on June 20 that she's appointing an independent investigator to conduct a formal review of the Dehcho Divisional Education Council.

The independent review will start in July 2025, she said. It will include input from a range of stakeholders including parents, teachers, administrative staff and others. The review is expected to conclude by the end of August, with results shared in the new school year.

SA国际影视传媒 recently obtained a four-page document containing multiple complaints from parents of school students accusing the schoolSA国际影视传媒檚 leadership of SA国际影视传媒渋nstitutionalized bullying.SA国际影视传媒 Cleveland's communications spokesperson, Chantelle Masson, had confirmed then that the minister was aware of those concerns.

On June 20, Cleveland said the territorial government has heard serious concerns from parents, educators, community members and education partners in the Dehcho. Her department has been gathering information on the situation, she added.

"While I recognize there is a need for urgent action in these areas, preliminary findings suggest the value of a broader examination," said Cleveland.

The minister's investigator will also review all district education authorities in the Dehcho education district.

"The review will examine governance and operational practices and assess whether assigned responsibilities are being fulfilled effectively by both elected officials and administrative staff," she explained.

The Department of Finance is also leading a human resources investigation related to personnel matters, according to Cleveland.

"I understand many residents want to see action, and I share that sense of urgency. I also recognize that for some families SA国际影视传媒 particularly Indigenous families still living with the intergenerational impacts of residential schools SA国际影视传媒 these situations can be especially difficult," said Cleveland. "ThatSA国际影视传媒檚 why this work must be carried out with care, fairness and respect."
