Yellowknife Fire Division (YKFD) responded to multiple fires this week.
On May 29, a report indicated that flames were visible on the third floor of Franklin House, located at 5009 48 Street.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed flames emerging from a third-floor window. Crews acted swiftly, applying water to suppress the blaze. Building evacuation efforts had already commenced prior to the firefighters' arrival.
Personnel entered the building and successfully extinguished the fire within the affected apartment, effectively containing it to the unit of origin. One tenant sustained minor burns but did not require a hospital visit. No other injuries have been reported at this time. All tenants were able to return to their homes within an hour and a half of YKFDSA国际影视传媒檚 arrival on scene.
The fire was determined to have originated from a window-mounted air conditioning unit. As the cause is not considered suspicious, the fire marshal will not be conducting a formal investigation.
The Yellowknife Fire Division extends its appreciation to the Municipal Enforcement Division and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police for their support during this incident.
Also on May 29, YKFD responded to multiple reports of flames near PilotSA国际影视传媒檚 Monument in Old Town.
SA国际影视传媒淔irefighters located a small wooden structure approximately 400 feet from the road, estimated to be 20 by 10 feet in size. The structure had been largely consumed by fire, and nearby brush had begun to ignite,SA国际影视传媒� the city states.
Firefighters remained on scene for less than an hour and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is undetermined but also not considered suspicious.
