A Yellowknife man is in a jail cell after allegedly attempting to run over a person, holding them prisoner and then threatening to shoot them.
Police say they received a complaint on Aug. 1 at roughly 1:26 p.m. relating to a suspect who had attempted to strike a person with their vehicle. The suspect is accused of subsequently assaulting the victim and forcibly confining them. The suspect then allegedly threatened to shoot the victim and "other people," according to police.
"The Critical Incident Program was activated and officers, including members of the Emergency Response Team and Police Dog Services, responded to a residence on Kingfisher Way," said NT public information officer Cpl. Josh Seaward. "Contact was made with the suspect, who subsequently exited the residence and was arrested without incident.
"A search warrant was then executed on the residence, leading to the seizure of four long-guns and a quantity of ammunition."
Milo Del Valle, 28, of Yellowknife, is charged with forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, assault while choking, assault, uttering threats and theft under $5,000.
He appeared before a justice of the peace and remains in custody.
