After a June 27 fire in Sundog Trading Post's attic, the business's owner says the operation will still be offering canoe, kayak and paddleboard rentals.

Owner Richard McIntosh said the cause of the fire is still unknown, and the company is still working through the insurance process. Their goal is to reopen the location at 4 Lessard Dr. on Latham Island as soon as possible.

"It happened at one of busiest seasons," said McIntosh. "There's never an ideal time to have a fire, but this really hurt for sure."

The blaze was contained to the building's attic and roof, and there were no injuries, according to McIntosh. He said firefighters showed up immediately and put the fire out with little trouble.
