An 18-year-old woman in Iqaluit is accused of causing damage to an cruiser in a chaotic chase around the city.
were notified of a stolen vehicle on July 25, around 5 p.m.
"Police were able to locate the vehicle and attempted to pull it over by activating their emergency lights and siren, but the driver refused to stop and fled from police," the alleged in a July 29 news release. "This occurred multiple times time around the city, but police were able to eventually stop the vehicle by the Iqaluit baseball diamond. The driver was arrested and placed into police custody.
"During the incident three different vehicles were damaged, including a marked police cruiser. There were no serious injuries," the added.
Jolene Padluq, 18, has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, dangerous operation, failure to stop after an accident, flight from police officer, two counts of assaulting a peace officer, robbery and assault.
Padluq was released from custody and her next court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 21 in Iqaluit.
