Residents of Kugluktuk are being advised of reduced services at the health centre effective immediately.

The Department of Health stated in an Aug. 13 news release that this is in effect until Sept. 3 due to staff shortages.

The health centre will remain open for emergencies, same-day urgent appointments, telehealth appointments, scheduled follow-ups, blood work, X-rays, medical travel and prescription refills.

All routine appointments will be rescheduled for the first week of September. Patients will be contacted with new appointment information. All service reductions or closures are subject to change based on staff availability. The Department of Health stated that it is working with government and territorial partners to ensure Nunavummiut continue to have access to necessary health services while addressing staff shortages.
