Daylen Weber loves Jocelyn Kierstead.
He loves her so much he went up on the main stage at Folk on the Rocks on July 19 to get down on one knee and ask her to marry him.
"I wanted to make this memorable for her," he told SA国际影视传媒 shortly after proposing. "I've been thinking about it for about six months."
Weber said he's lived in the NWT for 15 years, but this year was his first attending and volunteering at Folk on the Rocks. He explained that, with the help from some staff, he coordinated a live proposal, on stage.
He added that he was "extremely nervous" being up there in front of the large crowd. The audience, however, sounded delighted to see them together.
"This is the first true proposal I've ever had," said Weber.
The two met on Tinder and have been together for a little more than a year. Kierstead said they had spoken about getting married before, but she had no idea he had this in store for her.
"I feel like I'm in the clouds right now," she said.
When Kierstead got on stage with Weber, she said she was confused.
"I looked at him, kind of like, 'What's going on?' And then I was like, 'Wait, did we win something?'"
And in a way, they did.
"I won a husband," she laughed.
Should the couple find themselves reading this article years down the road, they've left a message for each other.
Kierstead: "I love you exactly how you are, and I hope you never change."
Weber: "I never thought I would meet somebody that understands me the way you did and makes me feel like everything is OK."
