After close to five months of being without one, Yellowknife will have a new fire chief as of Sept. 15.
Jason Arns will bring more than two decades of experience to the position, according to the municipality, which announced the hire on Aug. 18.
Arns has served in "leadership roles across Canada in both urban and rural settings," the City of Yellowknife stated, listing fire services, emergency management and public safety among his areas of expertise.

Mayor Ben Hendriksen complimented city staff on recruiting "such an accomplished and experienced leader" in Arns.
"His appointment underscores our ongoing commitment to public safety and service excellence,SA国际影视传媒 said Hendriksen.
Craig MacLean, the city's director of public safety, thanked deputy fire chief Rob Andrews for his leadership and service as acting fire chief in the interim.
