Two B.C. men charged following alleged home invasion in Iqaluit

Police say all parties known to each other and incident is 'isolated'

A pair of men from B.C. are facing several charges after an alleged home invasion in Apex earlier this month.

According to a release from on Wednesday, it happened on June 12 when Iqaluit received a report of a home invasion. Two suspects wearing masks allegedly broke into a residence and assaulted those inside before fleeing on an ATV.

Police managed to find the two suspects and arrested them without incident a short time later.

Abdulhadi Ayash, 18, and Yahya Al-Khafaji, 19, have both been charged with break and enter, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, wearing a face covering while committing an indictable offence and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Both men were remanded into custody and were scheduled to make an appearance in court in Iqaluit on Wednesday.
