The College of Northern Canada now offers two accredited programs.
Public affairs and communications manager with the Department of Education, Culture and Employment (ECE), Agata Gutkowska, confirmed to SA国际影视传媒 that, on July 18, the school received a certificate of registration to offer a logistics management diploma program and a certificate program.
The College of Northern Canada had submitted applications to deliver a global tourism management diploma and global logistics diploma last year. The institution was denied those credentials following a quality assurance review in April 2024.
Gutkowska said ECE is not reviewing any other applications from the school at this time.
A news release from the college reads that, because of its newly accredited programs, students enrolled in them are now eligible to apply for financial support through the territorial government's Student Financial Assistance program.
It also indicates that graduates will benefit from increased recognition by employers and post-secondary institutions across Canada. SA国际影视传媒 asked the school's vice-president, Louis Blais, how many students the school has, and how many graduated last year, but did not hear back before press time. Blais declined to provide answers to those questions when asked last year.
Under the Post-Secondary Education Act, ECE has an accreditation process intended to ensure that post-secondary institutions are properly governed and that programs, courses and institutions meet standards.
Now that the College of Northern Canada has been accredited, ECE will begin collecting enrollment data.
"Down the line we will have this information on the diploma and certificate programs that have been recently accredited," Gutkowska said.
