Western Canadian premiers coming to Yellowknife next week

Leaders from three territories, B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba to talk about Arctic sovereignty and security, emergency preparedness and housing during two-day conference

Seven premiers from across western and Northern Canada will be in Yellowknife next week as part of the Western PremiersSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™ Conference.

From May 21 to May 22, premiers from Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Saskatchewan, and Yukon will be in the capital to discuss a range of topics, including international trade and tariffs, economic corridors, energy security, Arctic sovereignty and security, emergency preparedness, and housing.

Below is a list of each premier, the province or territory they represent, and their political party:

  • Alberta SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ United Conservative Party: Danielle Smith

  • British Columbia SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ New Democratic Party: David Eby

  • Manitoba SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ New Democratic Party: Wab Kinew

  • Northwest Territories SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ Non-partisan: R.J. Simpson

  • Nunavut SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ Non-partisan: P.J. Akeeagok

  • Saskatchewan SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ Saskatchewan Party: Scott Moe

  • Yukon SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½“ Liberal Party: Ranj Pillai

The last time the conference was held in Yellowknife was 2018.
