Behchoko man charged with manslaughter

Forensic investigation launched after July 31 death caused by violent assault

A Behchoko man has been charged after a person died from injuries caused by a violent assault in the community.

G Division's Major Crimes unit announced the charges on Friday morning.

"As reported on August 5, Behchoko  were called to a serious assault in the community on July 31," said NT media relations officer Julie Plourde. "The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and later died. G Division Major Crimes Unit started an investigation, with assistance from the Forensic Identification Services and the NWT Coroner Service."

Police previously reported the victim was found unconscious in a residence.

Peter John Zoe, 69, of Behchoko, is charged with manslaughter. He has been released under conditions.
