Inuvik man charged with sexual assault following break-and-enter

A man is facing a sexual assault charge following an investigation by Inuvik  into a break-and-enter earlier this month.

Police say they were called to a residence at 9 a.m. on July 4 following a complaint. When police arrived, they met with a woman who appeared to have sustained injuries and was taken to hospital.

After speaking to witnesses, police identified a male suspect and apprehended him.

Miller Kasook, 31, is charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, break and enter to dwelling with intent and failure to comply with probation order. He remains in custody and will appear in Inuvik Territorial Court on July 9.

"The Inuvik would like to emphasize that public safety is one of its top priorities," said NT media relations officer Julie Plourde. "Inuvik is requesting anyone with CCTV, dash cam or doorbell cameras in the areas of Jak Zheii Place, Wolverine Road, Adams Road and Kugmallit Road to check their cameras for any footage between the hours of 8:00 and 9:30 a.m. on July 4, 2025 SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½” specifically, any footage of a male on foot wearing dark shorts and a light-coloured shirt.
