Yellowknife firefighters douse snowmobile and shed fire overnight

Called to blaze at Sir John Franklin High School shortly after midnight

Yellowknife Fire Division put out multiple fires that spread from a snowmobile at Sir John Franklin High School early Monday morning.

Police say they were called to the school shortly after midnight on July 21, where they found a snowmobile fully engulfed in flames and it ignited a nearby shed.

"After putting out the snowmobile fire, firefighters immediately turned their attention to the shed. Following containment of the exterior flames on the shed, firefighters entered the structure and successfully extinguished a secondary fire discovered inside," said city corporate communications officer Saxon Chung. "The cause of the fire remains undetermined at this time. The investigation has been transferred to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (). 

"The city acknowledges and appreciates the assistance of the Municipal Enforcement Division and the during the response."
