Stephen Ellis: A tale of two territories

Stephen Ellis: A tale of two territories

As I talk to more and more people about their evacuation experience, I am mostly hearing two kinds of stories. One kind of story is mostly a good one, and it goes kind of like this:
The journey home begins with a single step. And ISA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™m happy to be home

So my family and I are home. The house is still standing and everything was just as we left it. That was the biggest relief of all. We were thinking the worst when we pulled into our driveway and thankfully, our thinking the worst was merely an exercise.

Most of us Yellowknifers are either on our way back at home or already settling in now that the wildfire evacuation has ended.

The divorce papers are signed, youSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™ve either had a pity or a celebratory party. Although this can be terrifying, even in the best situations, let this be the blank canvas that youSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™ll paint your new life on, exactly as you want it. ItSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™s possible to heal, move forward and live a meaningful and fulfilling life. Keep in mind that not everyone feels the same about divorce. Some move ahead faster and others ponder over memories, toss between happiness and extreme sadness, and even go into depression.

When The Heart Says No: Some wildfire evacuees are stressed to the max

We heard on Monday, Aug. 28 that the fire near Yellowknife is no longer out of control and that we may be able to go home within a week.

Tales from the Dump: How many days has it been since you were evacuated due to wildfires?

Here is a skill testing question. How many days has it been since you were evacuated? The days do seem to blend together donSA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½™t they. So I thought maybe I would write down a few of my highlights.

Valpy: Second thoughts on timing of NWT election

I was asked by Cabin Radio what I thought about the date of the election SA¹ú¼ÊÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½” should it be moved to November or not. I said no date should be set until the fire is whipped and people are home. We need the voters cool, calm and collected on election day.
