Officials with the federal government and GNWT have announced $43.6 million has been allotted for both the construction of new roads and the rehabilitation of deteriorating ones this year.
Funding comes from a total of $94.8 million set aside in the 2025-26 capital budget. In total, 198 kilometres of highway, five bridges/culverts and three access roads will get worked on this summer.

There are 3,873 kilometres of road in the NWT, including all-year roads, access roads and ice roads, and 350 bridges and related structures.
