The Northwest Territories Internet Child Exploitation Unit is asking the public for assistance locating a man facing child porn charges who missed his court date.

Aydarus Abdi Warsame, 56, is charged with possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography and failure to attend court after he didn't show up to a scheduled May 9 appearance.

He was initially charged on Feb. 23, 2022 but a preliminary hearing was only completed in February of this year in Yellowknife. That hearing concluded there was enough evidence for Warsame to stand trial.

A warrant has been issued for Warsame's arrest and police say they currently do not know where he is living, but his last known address was in Edmonton.

He is described as bald with a black beard and brown eyes, standing 180 cm or 5 ft., 10 in. and weighing approximately 200 lbs.

Police are asking anyone with any information on his whereabouts to contact Yellowknife at 867-669-1111. Alternatively people can reach out to Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or online at http://www.p3tips.com.
