The situation in Hay River has taken a turn for the worse and anyone who is left in the town is being told to leave.

UPDATE: The GNWT now says the Community Government Hosting Evacuees Grant is not being expanded and that was given in error. A correction was issued shortly after 2 p.m. Aug. 27.

NWT evacuees are all over Alberta, and about 926 of them are at the G.H. Dawe Community Centre and surrounding hotels in Red Deer.
